I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so because I'm unsure of what my access to a computer will be like, I'm announcing the August theme a little early. The August theme will be DRAG. Yes, we've had variations of this in the past, but it's a fun theme so go with it. Any form of drag is welcomed and encouraged. Drag is any kind of gender performance, so go crazy. I am in a regional coverband. We have t-shirts we sell at our shows. I love taking our shirts and doing cool stuff with them (even though the guys in the band don't always appreciate my efforts). I had made the original shirt and wore it to a show and one fan liked it so much she asked me to make her one.

Hi, everyone...:]
I'm Jasmine and I'm 19 years old as of the end of this month. I typically go by Fire on the internet...but feel free to call me whatever you wish. I'm going to school to become an English teacher. Literature is my passion, followed by film. I wish I could make movies for a living, but I'm not talented enough. I also write and sing in an acoustic band..I do karaoke locally as well. I'm a huge fan of Rock Band. I absolutely adore meeting new people but I am quite shy in person.
I'm mostly what you'd call gender-neutral, because honestly, I dress however I feel like. Some days I go all the way and wear makeup. Other days, I'm as masculine as possible. Unfortunately I am big-breasted so it's really hard to hide that. I do sometimes get mistaken for a guy anyway. I just got new glasses today too and I really like them :)
Anyway I was nervous about joining this community but I live in a small town and there is no one like me here....so it's really hard to talk about this kind of stuff with others. So, yeah.
I just got a digital camera recently so I'm glad I'm not the only one who spends half of my time snapping pictures of myself. I also got a video camera for my birthday so I'm making a lot of videos. I'm in the process of making a documentary about sexuality...
I have lots more but now I feel significantly self-centered.

• So, I worked yesterday 4:15 - 8:15, easy shift. Work called me today asking me if I want to work Friday and Saturday 10 - 3, of course I said yes. I'll pick up as many shifts as possible.
• I checked my phone bill online today, because it didn't come in the mail, it said I had $55 in long distance chargers, which is bull shit, because I have the "My Fave 5" thing. And I don't talk to anyone long distance. So my Mom and I called Telus, and they tried telling us that I made those calls when I was on the Ontario/Quebec border. Wow, I've never been there before. Ha ha. So we put up a big stink saying I wasn't going to pay for it, and finally after 1.5 hours of arguing, they took it off my bill. I hate Telus, I always have issues with them. When my contract is up, I'm switching.
• Prison Break comes back September 1st, and I am honestly, so fuckin' anxious for it to come back. I love that show so much.
• Rachels 20th birthday is August 3rd, and I want to make it a good one for her. Thinking about going out for dinner with her and Jessika, then partying somewhere. She wants to go to Toronto to go clubbin', but I don't think it's gonna work out, we won't have enough people to take a limo, cause all of our friends aren't reliable, and we won't have anywhere to sleep because we don't want to stay at a hotel because it will cost too much for the two of us. I don't know, I want to make it a good one, because she made my 20th awesome, she deserves it.
Anyway, I think thats it. Here's a picture of me that I took the other day:

Hi everybody.
I am planning a shirt that will be made larger than it was originally and want to add ruching. I understand how to do this (sew in a zig zag and gather) but doesnt it give the same effect as sewing over stretched elastic? making "ruches" with elastic adds a lot of stretchiness to the design, does ruching do that too? If not, then are there any advantages in ruching, other than not having to actually buy any elastic?
I just wondered what your experiences/ opinions/ preferences regarding ruching are......
I'll post my shirt when its finished.

I am pretty sure they left the neck the way it was and cut the sleeves off at an angle up to where the neckline meets...

So my gf and I are now seriously looking for a good dildo. We tentatively bought a sort of double sided but it doesn't really work, it's too small (We were both scared of size but realise now it's not a big deal for us). It was a great starter but now onto bigger and better things. :D

I was busy over the weekend working on this new surgery, and fixing up some older surgeries. If only I had a sewing machine...
These are the new ones.
This shirt was too small for me. I unstitched the side seams, hemmed them, and then laced up the sides. I was hoping to finish it in time for a party I was going to, but stitching up the sides took longer than I thought it would :(.
Everything is stitched by hand.

Thank god today is over. I have now worked 12 days in a row. Tonight after work was the first time in 12 days that I wore my real clothes and not my work clothes, because that's ALL I've been doing. I don't work tomorrow and have some sort of shift on Tuesday. I don't know if I'll work the rest of the week which is fine because I'm getting pumped up to see the X-Files movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe I can get back into biking this week since I don't need to drive everywhere now.
After work, I went out for bowling and drinks with some people I work with. It was a lot of fun until one of the guys kept changing the bowling name of the only other girl there to relate to her boobs. Like, the first time he changed it, it was in context of the conversation but then he just took it too far and it was obnoxious and annoying. It really brought her mood down and I was irritated, as well. One of the other guys was like, "I don't get why she's pissed at me for changing her name." (he changed her name to something non-sexual). I said, "Do you really not get it?" And he said, "No, I don't." And I said, "It's that her name has been changed all night long and it's always revolved around her tits. Do you understand how that could be irritating and upsetting to have all this focus on a body part when all you want to do is relax after work with some friends?" And he was like, "I get that, but not why she's mad at me." I said, "I doubt she's mad at you; it's not you - just stop fixating on her body."

On top of that, I get about halfway home and she calls me. Her bike tired was flaaaaat. I went back and picked her up and she was so apologetic and talking about how she was crabby and just wanted to home but felt bad for calling me up. I told her that it was really OK and I understood her frustration and explained it to one of the guys. Then I turned on NPR (something we bond over) and rode in comfortable sort-of silence.
I felt so bad because I know that wasn't an isolated incident for her - I know that guys stare and comment on her breasts ALL THE TIME. I just wish that there was a way to translate and explain how awful and dehumanizing that feels. It doesn't feel nice to be constantly bothered and harassed about your body ALL THE TIME. It's not flattering. It's irritating and it surprises me that more women aren't mass murders for that very reason.
Now I'm kind of crabby. |
